About TLC

Everyone can feel lonely or isolated at times, especially when facing hardship.

In April 2021, in response to the devastating impact of loneliness and isolation on people’s mental health and wellbeing — which the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis have both intensified — TLC, together with partners across the city, launched a befriending service to help combat the effects of loneliness and isolation in Aberdeen.

Our service matches trained and compassionate volunteers with individuals who would benefit from support — not only to offer friendship, but also to help build resilience and confidence to reconnect with their community, bringing joy and fulfilment back into their lives.

We provide a comprehensive training package and regular supervision, ensuring you’re supported every step of the way — you’ll never be left on your own.

If you’re interested in making a difference in someone’s life and helping your community thrive, we’d love you to apply to become a TLC Befriender.
