About this opportunity

WorkingRite is an employability charity for young people (16-24) with mentoring at its heart.

‘On Your Side’ (OYS) is a new development for our charity and is extending our ability to provide mentoring support for our young people following their successful progression from our core Placement Programme. Our young people have worked hard to get to this stage. Could you make a real difference by being there for them and providing ongoing support as they move into work or further education?

The role of the mentor is to take a person-centred approach which supports the mentee to build resilience by exploring and identifying their own solutions to the issues and challenges they face. Our volunteers meet with their mentees in a range of public spaces: cafes, libraries, museums...anywhere it is easy to meet and talk. If the weather is good, a walk and talk can be a great way to connect. So far the meetings have all been face to face and we continue to encourage this in the early stages of building a relationship. However, we are exploring the option of meeting online and having a phone chat from time to time.

Flexible times to volunteer (around 1 hour per fortnight) and full training and excellent support is provided to all On Your Side Mentors, including an online course ‘Mentor Knowledge & Understanding’ which has been developed and certificated by the Scottish Mentoring Network. We also submit PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Group) scheme membership applications for all volunteers.

A fantastic opportunity to make a real difference for young people and the community. All help is greatly appreciated. For more information please contact Sam Bowen, Administration Officer at email: recruit@workingrite.co.uk or telephone: 07741905258
