About

Established to serve the north-east of Scotland, today our university is a global presence in higher education. A dual focus on our region and the wider world is as important to us today as it was five centuries ago.

Through their various strands of work, The University of Aberdeen offers many opportunities for volunteers to contribute; whether it's taking part in health studies, supporting students on campus or helping to raise funds, there are volunteer roles for all.

Some of the areas you could volunteer in include...

  • The University of Aberdeen Student Union - a student-led organisation that supports, empowers, and represents students at the University
  • The Rowett Institute - playing a major role in the UK research capability in nutrition and human health and throughout their long and proud history the Institute has made a significant impact on animal health and human nutrition.
  • Patient Partner Programme - assisting in providing ‘real life’ learning opportunities where our students can gain confidence and competence possible in a safe and simulated environment.
  • Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation - aims o work for the implementation of better health and social care, identify developments within health and social care that are effective, efficient and high quality, and explore and understand experiences of health and social care.

Patient Partners are members of the public who assist in the practice and learning sessions by being available to speak to and be examined by our students. There is no prior training or experiences necessary to be selected to join the Programme, all we ask is that a Patient Partner be willing to help, reliable and most importantly have a good sense of humour!
