About

Grampian Inclusive Cycling Bothies (GICB) is a 3-year lottery funded project to make cycling more accessible in Grampian.

Improving access to cycling will promote all the health, wellbeing and environmental benefits of cycling to more people across each community. By having adapted bikes stored at bothies throughout Grampian, access to adapted bikes will be closer to the people within each community who need to use them.

We currently have adapted cycling bothies in Aberdeen, Peterhead, Alford and Banff, where we run regular sessions using adapted bikes. Check out our Facebook page for session details and exciting new bothy developments around Grampian.

You can sign up for sessions using Eventbrite (apart from Peterhead which runs as a drop in session). All of our sessions are free.

We are always looking for new volunteers at cycling sessions. This could involve:

  • General assistance in getting cycles in and out of the storage containers and on to the track
  • Check over bikes (training on each bike will be given)
  • ‘Meet & Greet’ as participants arrive for their session
  • Give assistance to those getting on the bikes and putting on helmets if required
  • Accompanying riders around the track to encourage them
