Our Mission is to provide a range of vital services to a regeneration area of Aberdeen, Empowering residents through informal learning, support, education, volunteering and other services to reduce poverty and increase equality.
Fersands and Fountain Community Project was established in 1980 ( we became a SCIO IN 2023) to deliver services in a regeneration area of Aberdeen that falls within the 10% poorest parts of Scotland.
The SCIO, ( Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) is managed by a group of local residents (Fersands and Fountain Board of Trustees) that are elected at a public meeting every 12 months.
Our aim is to provide a range of vital services to a regeneration area of Aberdeen, empowering residents through informal learning, support, education, volunteering and other services to reduce poverty and increase life chances.
Fersands is a grassroots project that has been growing and evolving over the past 43 years, it provides a Family Centre, Family Centre Nursery, Junior Groups 5-12, Youth Groups 12-25, Adult classes 16+, Information and Support services, A food Pantry, Fersands Community Café, A Charity Shop, After School Clubs and many others activities.
We have approx 12 full time and 15 part time workers and around 40 volunteers that deliver these services. We aim to involve the community in our services so we are more aware of the issues people face in the community and service users can influence change in the community. Many of our staff and volunteers live in the community we serve.
2023 has been a great year for our SCIO as we were recognised by Celebrate Aberdeen as the best "small organisation of the Year" We think this was due to our responce to the needs of our community during the cost of living crisis!
