About this opportunity
Social Bite will be installing a Tree of Kindness in Aberdeen this Christmas as part of the Festival of Kindness 2024, which is aiming to provide 300,000 meals, gifts, and essential items to people who are homeless and vulnerable this winter. The Tree of Kindness will be located at the Aberdeen Bon Accord Centre entrance, AB10 1BA until the 22nd December.
Volunteers at the Tree will help to:
• Receive gifts and essential items that are donated by members of public
• Support people to make donations
• Explain why the Tree of Kindness is there and how the Festival of Kindness provides gifts and meals to people experiencing
• homelessness
• Thank people for their support, and generally be a warm, welcoming presence for any members of the public stopping by the Tree of Kindness!
Relevant guidance and excellent support is provided to all volunteers, including a Guide for Volunteers to read through before their shift, to familiarise themselves with Social Bite and the guidelines for the Trees of Kindness. Welfare spaces will be available for the duration of shifts where volunteers can sit down, recharge phones, get hot drinks, and take breaks. The Volunteer Coordinator can also provide individualized support for volunteers who have additional support needs.
A fantastic opportunity to spread kindness and make a real difference for people who are homeless and vulnerable this winter. All volunteers are greatly appreciated.
