About this opportunity
A Lifeline for Those Who Need It Most
Shallion Support isn’t just about volunteering — it’s about changing lives. Every day, people with M.E., Lupus, Long Covid, Fibromyalgia, PTSD (to name a few!), wake up exhausted before their day has even begun. Simple tasks become overwhelming, and many are left isolated at home with little or no support.
Four years ago, my daughter was diagnosed with M.E. I was her anchor, the one who helped her through the exhaustion, the brain fog, and the frustration of not being able to do what she once could. But as I walked this journey with her, I realized something — not everyone has someone to lean on. Many people face these conditions alone, or with loved ones who simply have to work and can't always be there.
Shallion Support: Breaking New Ground
This is where Shallion Support comes in. We are pioneering a new kind of home-based support — a service that fills the gap for those who need practical help and company but have no one to turn to. No other service like this exists in Scotland.
To make this happen, we need volunteers from all walks of life. We’re not just looking for home support workers — we also need:
- Personal Assistants
- HR & Recruitment Support
- IT & Admin Volunteers
- Childcare & Family Support
- Marketing & Social Media Assistants
- Fundraising & Community Outreach Helpers
This is a social enterprise — we are committed to making this service accessible to those who need it most, regardless of their financial situation. We’ve already received funding from Aberdeen Council and support from FirstPort and Business Gateway and we are determined to see this service grow across Scotland.
Why Volunteer? Because It Matters.
By volunteering with Shallion Support, you’ll be part of something new, something meaningful. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or want to get more deeply involved, your skills and time will have a direct impact on people who desperately need support.
- Help someone with an autoimmune condition feel less alone.
- Be the support they wish they had.
- Make an impact in a way that no other service is currently offering.
This is your chance to be part of something genuinely life-changing. Let’s make sure no one facing an autoimmune condition feels forgotten.
