Interested in weight loss, nutrition, gut bacteria, and health?
The Rowett Institute are looking to recruit participants (with moderate habitual fibre intake) for a weight loss study to look at the effects of dietary fibre and artificial sweeteners on gut health.
In this study, the research team will ask you to follow a set diet (all food provided) for six weeks, the diet will vary in fibre content and type.
You will be asked to come to the Rowett Institute for a screening session and to complete a 7day food diary to confirm that you are eligible. Once on the study you will be asked to collect food every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on four of these occasions there will also be a short test session (approximately 1hr) where will take a blood sample and ask you to provide a stool sample.
During the 6 week study participants will also be asked to wear glucose monitors which are applied to the back of the arm.
At the end of the study participants will receive feedback on health markers (like cholesterol).
Eligibility:
- Overweight adults (BMI 28-40kg/m²) who eat 18-23g of fibre per day. You will not be able to participate if you have a food allergy or are vegetarian.
- Healthy males; or healthy females (on oral contraceptive pill, other hormonal contraceptives, or postmenopausal)
