About this opportunity

North East Rider Volunteers Scotland mission is to deliver urgent medical samples, equipment and supplies between hospitals, healthcare sites and laboratories in the North East of Scotland when Healthcare Providers’ own transport services do not operate.

To assist in this we have Fleet Manager / Board Member Opportunities. The role involves aspects such as:

  • To proactively co-ordinate and schedule the mechanical service requirements for the fleet of dedicated motorcycles and cars in accordance with the manufacturers’ specified servicing schedule.
  • To ensure all mandatory legal requirements are complied with, such as road vehicle licensing, insurance cover and MoT where applicable.
  • To carry out minor mechanical work to vehicles.
  • To ensure that each motorcycle or car is presented to an approved service agent in line with the prescribed service interval for the machine or to carry out service in house.
  • To ensure that the vehicle insurance cover is maintained at all times.
  • To ensure that any MOT is carried out in a timely manner.
  • To ensure that non-standard equipment (emergency lamps / rack /straps) are checked periodically and a record kept.
  • To ensure that Operations Coordinator is informed if a vehicle is out of service.
  • Mechanical knowledge of both motorcycles and cars is desirable to save the charity money but not essential as work can be outsourced to various garages. Advanced motorcycle certificate would be advantageous.

A fantastic opportunity to help in the vital work and volunteering that the North East Rider Volunteers Scotland charity do. For further details please email: chair@nervs.org.uk or telephone 07881460792.
