About this opportunity
Hanover has been housing and supporting people in Scotland for more than forty years. Our core purpose is to help older people feel safe and secure at home and to live fulfilling and independent lives.
This sums up our commitment to housing for life. We provide and manage a wide range of housing and services, mainly for older people. We currently manage more than 5,000 homes throughout Scotland. We provide a range of housing and tenure types to meet the different support needs of older people, allowing people to retain their independence within a local community and enjoy as much privacy or company as they wish.
We currently have a great opportunity to help with gardening tasks in one of our developments based in Aberdeen City.
The role involves assisting with general light gardening activities in our residents’ areas to provide an attractive and enhanced environment. Garden maintenance (light activities) – including weeding, pruning, tidying and path maintenance. Working alongside our residents creating a gardening club. Volunteers will have access to tools required for the role. Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. All volunteers will get an induction, where we will introduce them to our staff, residents and go over safety features within our developments. We look to offer training as appropriate for the role. Our volunteers all get a named member of staff for direct support as well.
Experience required
No Horticultural qualifications are necessary, as long as you have the willingness to help, are patient and have confidence in your own gardening skills, being fond of a chat is helpful too, as this will help you build a rapport with our residents.
